
We have a very busy and exciting term ahead of us. I hope you are all looking forward to it. We will be exploring lots of new learning opportunities in class.
We will be looking at some lovely texts together this term. In English we will be reading Kaspar, Prince of Cats by Michael Morporgo and Leila and the Blue Fox by Kiran Millwood-Hargrave to support us in our writing. In Guided reading we will be reading The Polar Brear Explorer's Club by Alex Bell.

In maths Year 6 will focusing on measurements before tackling fractions decimals and percentages. While Year 5 will focus on multiplication, division and worded problems. Year 6 are taught by Miss Parker and Year 5 will be taught by Miss Myles.

In science Yeat 6 will be exploring energy, light and reflection through lots of exciting practical lessons and Year 5 will be exploring forces and spaces.

Our Geography topic explores the question ‘What is life like in the Alps?’, we will be becoming geographers by using atlas’ in class and even carrying out some fieldwork about our local area.

In History we will be looking at the history of the Liverpool Docks and discussing why they were so important to Liverpool.

In PSHE children will be learning health and wellbeing. We will be exploring how we can live a healthy lifestyle through exercise and planning healthy meals.
Our RE key question of the year is ‘Where can we find guidance about how to live our lives?’ and our focus question for this term will be ‘What might Hindus learn from stories about Krishna?’
Our Art topic this half term is entitles “I need Space” and we will be exploring retrofuturism through a range of mediums as well as creating our own pieces using printing and drawing techniques.
In DT we will be designing and making our own stuffed toys!
In computing we will be looking at systems and networks through focusing on the use of AI.
.Our French topic this half term is French football champions, we will explore French football vocabulary through a variety of language-learning techniques.
In PE pupils will be developing their skills in both dance and dodgeball.
Our PE days are Monday and Wednesday this term.
Homework will be set on Fridays and is due in the following Wednesday.
Reading books will be changed and sent home every Friday. We expect children to read this at least three times a week and for their reading record to be signed by someone at home.
