Welcome to Attenborough class

Our class teacher is Mrs Lightfoot.

This term we are looking forward to lots of exciting learning opportunities both in and outside of school! We have our residential trip to Colomendy planned, where we will be challenging ourselves to try new activities such as climbing, team building and even fire lighting!

In school we will be looking at some lovely texts together including:

  • The Lost Thing by Shaun Tan
  • Hidden Figures by Margit Lee Shetterly
  • Paradise Sands by Levi Pinfold
  • The Polar Bear’s Explorer’s Club by Alex Bell
  • Malala by Malala Yousafzai

In science, our Topics will focus on Classifying Living Things and Energy, and we will be doing lots of practical activities to support our learning.

Our Geography topic this term will focus on the question “Why does population change?” where we will have opportunities to explore changing population data as well as factors which influence population such as migration, climate change and the impact of population on the environment. We will be completing fieldwork to investigate this in our own local area.

In History, we will be investigating what life was like in Tudor Britain. To do this, we will be looking at a range of primary and secondary sources to make inferences about life for both the wealthy and the working classes during this period.

Our PSHE lessons will focus on Family and Relationships as well as Health and Wellbeing.

In RE, we will be looking at two questions through the lens of Christianity; Is life a Journey and Why do Christians believe in Good Friday? In these lessons we will have lots of opportunity for learning about different viewpoints and discussing our ideas.

As well as going to Colomendy we will be keeping active by taking part in health-related exercise, gymnastics and going swimming, which we always thoroughly enjoy

.

In French, we will be learning and practicing lots of vocabulary and sentence structures to talk about our favourite sports, sports played in France, the Olympics and French football champions. We will be taking part in activities that allow us to practice our spoken, written and aural French.

Our Art topic this half term is entitles “I need Space” and we will be exploring retrofuturism through a range of mediums as well as creating our own pieces using printing and drawing techniques.

In DT we will be planning and cooking our very own three course Christmas dinner in preparation for the festive season!

In computing we will be looking at the History of Computers and Bletchley Park, and how this has led to our modern day computers. This will lead us into our topic all about artificial intelligence and its uses.
