A value is a principle which guides our thinking and our behaviour. They are things we believe in that help us to make decisions about how we behave and that help us to become good citizens in the future.
At Widnes Academy we believe that these values will also help to improve our pupils self-esteem, behaviour and ultimately enable them to be the best they can be.
We want our whole school community to work together and create a learning place we can all be proud of.
Our Thoughtbox PHSE curriculum helps to support the teaching of key values
We currently focus on 6 Core Values through Thoughtbox and these are:
Respect, Equality, Love, Trust, Responsibility and Kindness
To extend this further we have now expanded this in consultation with our pupils, staff, parents and governors to identify further Core Values which will underpin our curriculum moving forward.
These have been identified as:
Ambition, Honesty, Teamwork, Resilience, Focus and Curiosity
During the Spring Term we will focus on one of these each week so that the school community has a clear overview of our values. Moving forward we will then expand this further so that our chosen values permeate our curriculum and everytihng we do at Widnes Academy.
