Jemison class
Welcome to Jemison Class!
In our class we have Year 3 and Year 4 children and our class teacher is Mrs Lightfoot. We have lots of exciting learning to look forward to this year!
In our English lessons we will be reading Leon and the Place between and writing our own magical adventure story! We will also be reading a lovely story called the Barnabus project which is all about self-acceptance and friendship. In our Guided Reading lessons we will be looking and both fiction and non-fiction texts; The Lost Spells, which is a collection of poems, and Africa, Amazing Africa where we will find all kinds of interesting facts!
In maths, Ms Ward will be teaching Year 3 with Mrs Lightfoot teaching Year 4, and we will all be looking at place value and addition and subtraction. Year 4 will also be working very hard with their times tables!
In our afternoon lessons we will be exploring why rainforests are important in Geography and listening to and performing Samba music in Music.
In DT we will be learning about what foods are in season as well and cooking and eating these in a delicious seasonal tart.
We will be exploring what helps us feel safe and connected in PSHE and in RE we will be thinking about how some Christians have served God.
Our Computing lessons will give us an opportunity to learn how to send an email. Year 3 will be learning French for the first time and so will be practicing how to greet others with Mrs Lightfoot, while Year 4 will be describing themselves and others with Miss Myles.
In Science, Year 3 will be learning about movement and nutrition with Mrs Lightfoot and Year 4 will be taught by Miss Myles learning about Digestion and food.
We are looking forward to some interesting investigations!
Our PE days are Wednesday (Tchoukball with Mrs Lightfoot) and Friday (Dance with Ms Ward) so make sure you come in wearing your PE kit on those days!
