Nightingale class

The Class teacher is Mrs Williams

The classroom assistant is Miss Grace

In Autumn we focus on settling the children into our new learning environment and getting to know each other, and the rules and school values. At Widnes Academy, we are lucky to have a large environment to stimulate children’s curiosity and develop a lifelong love of learning. In our rooms, we focus on our ‘VIP’ time (Very Important Play) and how we can help our brains to grow in our play.

We have 3 main rooms for children to learn:

Calm Room: This has our home corner, calm corner, reading garden, music area and our message centre.

Creative Room: This has our playdough area, sand and water area, investigation area, maths area, loose parts, construction corner, small world and creation station. A room to really help our imaginative play grow!

Regulation room: An area where children can go to help regulate their emotions and follow our sensory circuits.

Outdoor area: This is currently being transformed to help our gross motor skills.

Our learning themes in Autumn are; My imagination and me. This is linked to reception’s literacy tree book, Where the Wild Things Are. This theme allows us to get to know each other and how to use our brains to develop stories and use this in our learning. Our second theme in Autumn is, Traditions and Celebrations. This learning is linked to reception’s literacy tree book, Ning and the Night Spirits. In this half term we focus on all the different celebrations we have with our own families, and how this makes us unique.
